We’re still not completely sure why anyone would actually want to stay in Branson, it being something akin to the seventh circle of hell in our opinion, but people do, in fact, want to stay there and so if you’re going to you’re going to want something understated and calm to balance out the rest of the town, which is the complete opposite.
The Grand Plaza hits that spot quite nicely. It’s located just a couple of blocks off the main drag but what difference those blocks make. Perched on the side of a hill, its surrounded by lots of trees and has a good view of the north side of Branson.
It’s basically just a very friendly, somewhat fancier version of a family hotel with a restaurant and lounge, game room, fitness center, indoor pool, hot tub, sundeck, and more. They serve a free continental breakfast every morning that often involves donuts so that makes us immediately like them no matter what.
The rooms are standard motel/hotel with very few surprises and unchallenging décor but the furnishings are well tended and the beds are comfortable so it’s hard to complain. Low level rooms have a television and basic amenities but as you move up the price chain you can add things like mini-fridges, microwaves, whirlpool tubs, and more.
There is free wireless throughout the property but we couldn’t get it to work. We have bad luck when it comes to Internet issues though so we can only blame ourselves.
Rates start as low as $70 off season but can be double that during peak for the up-market rooms. Even at that price point it feels well worth it.
